Discussion of Winter Photography; Photo assignment #8

  • Champaign Public Library, Robeson Pavilion Room C 200 West Green Street Champaign, IL, 61820 United States (map)

Tonight we’ll discuss tricks to get a great winter image. What clothes are good for winter photography? What should you do to get your camera ready when going from a warm car to a cold outside enviornment? Let’s talk about the gear one might use, the camera settings for snow, and where to find wildlife.

Tonight we hope to share results from photo assignment #8:

With this assignment, we want members to go out within 60 days prior to tonight’s meeting and take up to four photos (no more than 2 of any 1 subject). The photos should include at least one of the following categories: shadows, feature using the rule of thirds and/or the color grey. If you can include two or three of the categories in your photo, even better. The maximum size for a projected image is 1400 x 1050 pixels. To learn more about preparing your image for projection on the library projector, see this information. You can email the photos to the club email champaigncountycameraclub@gmail.com by noon January 6th, or bring them on a flash drive.

The rule of thirds is a foundation of many photographs. Leadership believes this will be a really fun way to encourage members to get out there and photograph the world around you.
