This phone app, by Camera LLC (TX) is great when outside away from home. And it’s free. It provides direction and GPS coordinates, in addition to elevation readings.

 When travel or lost your way then check your direction by digital compass for Android with GPS map. It’s free with ads. It looks like real compass. It shows not only North, South, East and West but also the azimuth and angle.

This software is available for free on your desktop, or for a small fee as a phone app. Stellarium Mobile is a planetarium app that shows exactly what you see when you look up at the stars.
