Fall Digital intra-club competiton
During this first year of the COVID pandemic, the Champaign County Camera Club has continued to meet in person at the Champaign Public Library and remotely at home via zoom. This first Digital Club Competition of our academic year was held Monday, October 26th, 2020 and offered three Categories. The Black and White category had 35 images submitted; Macro had 24 images; and Night photography had 16 images. Members were allowed to enter no more than three images per category. The photographer remained anonymous as images were projected on a screen for all to view while judges assigned point values to each image. Judges also shared their reasons on why they scored certain images as they did.

Our Judges were Fraya Replinger, Mike Heniger, and Allen Wehrmann.
Fraya Replinger is a local artist, born and raised in Urbana. Her first photography class, taken in high school, sparked her passion to pursue fine art photography. Her award winning images capture landscapes, skyscapes, and the great outdoors explored from fresh perspectives to convey her visions of beauty or emotional impact. She is recognized by the Champaign County Camera Club (Best In Show Competitions), PACA (Preservation and Conservation Association), and the Champaign County Fair. Her fine art photography is exhibited at local markets and art shows throughout Illinois and she has pieces on permanent display on the donor wall at Allerton Park and Retreat Center in Monticello, IL.
Mike Heniger: Mike is from Morton, Illinois, pumpkin capital of the world. He graduated from Taylor University with a B.A. in Accounting in 1987. He began his career as a CPA in Indianapolis, and later worked as the Director of Finance at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. In 1999, he began serving on the pastoral staff at Grace Church in Monticello. In 2004, he helped launch Crossroads Church in Mahomet, serving as its lead pastor while obtaining a Master’s Degree in Religious Studies from Urbana Theological Seminary. From the moment Mike got his first camera as a high school student--a Canon A-1-- photography had been a developing interest, and, beginning in about 2010, he started turning his love of photography into a part-time business. Then, in 2015, he decided to leave Crossroads to become a full-time professional photographer. Currently, he specializes in photographing Seniors, Families, Sports and Events, and in doing Commercial Work. Mike has judged several competitions for our club, including Best in Show.
Allen Wehrmann: Allen is the past president of the Champaign County Camera Club, a world traveler, and award winning photographer. He was kind enough to sit in as a replacement judge during this competition.
