For those who are on the fence about the eclipse event due to location issues, one of our members has an offer for club members.
Bob Wiseman has a farm in the Mt Carmel-Albion area he has offered to our club membership to use. As far as I can tell on the map, it's close to dead center, with a totality time of around 4 min 5 sec, give or take a second. There is a large concrete patio, as well as a large grassy area to use. This is a generous offer from Bob that we appreciate. The drive down is around 3 hours, the drive back-who knows?
If you want to utilize this location the club president will help you get in touch with Bob for more details, and allow him to know how many may be there.
Some stats from that area:
Eclipse starts at 12:45:45
Totality starts: 14:01:46
Duration: 4:06 (approx)
Eclipse ends: 15:22 (approx)
Altitude: 55 degrees
Azimuth: 212 degrees
Eclipse start position on sun: 4:00 position
Here's a link to a neat site that has every city in the eclipse area in Illinois, and the stats. You can even search by city.
