Member Spotlight April 2020

We always enjoy seeing what our individual members are interested in photographing. Because of the COVID19 situation, we did not have a physical meeting in April 2020. However, on April 6th, 2020 we've asked club members Susan Coulter, Ray Silva and Jeff Janczewski to present some of their photographic art.

Because of a company relocation, I moved to SE Georgia from Northern Illinois. I was fortunate to join the Savannah Chapter of the Georgia Nature Photographer’s Association. Located along the SE Georgia coast, we had the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge in our “back yard”. The Coastal Refuge extends from Pinckney Island near Hilton Head Island, SC to Wolf Island near Darien, Ga. In between these lie Savannah, Warsaw, Tybee, Harris Neck and Blackbeard Island refuges. The Complex spans over 100 miles of coastline and total over 57,000 acres. The Okefenokee Swamp and other off- shore islands of St. Simon, Jekyll and Cumberland were within a short drive away.

Naturally my main photography “focus” was capturing land and seascapes as well as the flora and fauna of the coastal area. Also included above are a small collection of my images captured along the South East Coast and some wildlife that might not visit Central Illinois. Ray Silva

Hello Camera Club and thank you for the opportunity to present some of my photography. As a new member I thought I would show a variety of my work shot over the past few years. I started photography shooting my oldest daughter’s cross country meets and my excitement took off from there. In 2018 I had the opportunity to travel to Africa and document the trip for the group I was with. My true passion is black and white landscape photography and I particularly enjoy playing with motion through the use of slower shutter speeds and long exposures as well as the perspective achieved with a wide lens.
